RESERVE OR NOT TO RESERVE
Over the past few months of being an eBay seller of motor homes, we feel that we have conducted our auctions using a realistic reserve price with a low opening bid. Each of our auctions have been extremely successful, with plenty of action for the bidders. One reason for using the reserve type method, with a low opening bid, was we believed that it wasn't really any different than putting a high opening bid and then waiting for someone to 'test the water'. We also noticed, the high opening bid method, with no reserve, used in other eBay auctions didn't really bring many bids and very rarely a sale. Go down the bid column and see for yourself how many auctions don't get even one bid. Now many eBayers have asked us, if our motor homes and prices are so great....why a reserve?....why even a minimum opening bid? This may sound silly, but our biggest concern was....without some kind of minimum bid, bidders would feel that there must me something wrong with the motor home, if they are willing to sell it for any amount. As we have stated before, the main reason eBay works, is because of your feedback rating. If we were to auction on eBay, just one motor home that was described inaccurately....our integrity would be compromised. We have already received to many compliments on our ads and how we conduct our eBay auctions...Why make a step backwards? So....with that said, we are going to conduct this auction with.....NO RESERVE AND NO MINIMUM!!!!
ALL ABOUT THE ALUMA LITE
Our next item up for bid is an equally fantastic value. This is a 1990 HOLIDAY RAMBLER 29 1/2' ALUMA LITE. Holiday Ramblers, are considered to be one of the finest built production line coaches made. Knowledgeable buyers purchase Holiday Ramblers for the behind the scenes quality....the insulation, wiring, the fabrics and foam, fit and finish...the list goes on. Basically what I'm saying is, it's not what you see, it's what you don't see that makes a great motor home. All aluminum frame construction and outside smooth fiberglass skins makes for strength and an easy care for exterior. Front and back caps are gel coated molded fiberglass. With only 60,818 original miles, this coach is in excellent condition throughout. If highway driving is your pleasure, I've personally had this one out on the road and it drives and handles like a dream. It's like new 8 X 19.5 Goodyear Wrangler steel belted radial tires gives it a smooth, sure ride. We have inspected all major systems and they are functioning properly, but please, third party inspections are welcomed (at buyer expense naturally).
Excellent floor plan allows sleeping for up to 6 persons. The spacious rear bedroom has twin beds with plenty of upper and lower storage. This bedroom can be converted to a large queen bed without much trouble. I would be more than happy to explain how this conversion could be done if you are interested. Up front lounge area is equipped with a comfortable sofa/sleeper and full 4-person dinette that easily makes into a sleeper. Driver's and passengers can be turned toward the living area. Split bath with full shower on one side and sink and toilet on the other side. As the saying goes, “one picture is worth a thousand words” (see PHOTO GALLERY) and if you want to see any certain area in more detail please contact me for more photos or info.
This Aluma Lite is not a basement model RV, but it does have 4 good sized lower storage compartments on the exterior. You get more lower storage with a full basement, but it makes the motor home about 14" taller and in some cases harder to control in high winds. Still, as you can see by the pictures, the Rambler has ample exterior storage. The tires are like new (90% tread and no sidewall cracks) Goodyear steel belted radial tires with chrome hub caps. The exterior is in excellent condition and the whole coach has been hand waxed and detailed. The roof is a two piece aluminum design, that only has one seam down the center line, which makes it very water tight. As with all our motor homes, this one has been checked for leaks. The interior also shows no signs of past leaks.
Before I list the options and features, please let me add that if you are considering the purchase of this or any motor home and you’re the average American who works hard for their money…. remember RV’s never appreciate in value. Doesn’t mean you can’t sell one for more than you paid for it. But as a rule of thumb, their value is constantly falling. Kelly Blue Book comes out 3 times a year and very rarely does an RV ever go up in value and the newer they are the faster the values falls. In my opinion, this means the less you spend, the happier you’ll be!
New, the original owner spent close to $55,000 for this RV. It has now depreciated over half of it’s value in 10 years….and that hurts. But on the bright side, it now can be owned and driven with very little depreciation. Price a new Holiday Rambler today and then take the down payment, tax and license dollars and bid on this beauty. Kelly Blue Book says for a 1990 model, 60,800 is low miles.... you do not deduct $$$ till the odometer hits 68,000 miles, anything less is an add in value.
CONDITION REPORT
I buy and inspect 100's of motor homes a year and feel I have a very realistic idea of what is good condition and what is not. The Aluma Lite, with just over 60,000, has been used but definitely not abused. It's extra clean inside and out, with no funny interior odors. All appliances are clean and in working order. The roof has just been resealed also. As I stated before...the running condition is excellent. EVERYTHING WORKS!!! Another words...It's ready to camp. Once again we will not hesitate for third party inspections at the buyers expense.
Please be sure to visit the Photo Gallery before you bid.

***WHO ARE WE ?***
We are HIT THE ROAD RV and are located in San Diego, California. Feel free to call us by phone @ 1-619-582-7878 or visit our friendly wed site @ hittheroadrv.com
Starting as a glorified hobby in January 1995 we have quickly grown to selling over 125 pre owned RV’s (motor homes, trailers and 5th wheels) per year. The inventory we have is personally owned and is not consigned. We found that most parties that wanted to leave consigned RV’s for sale did not care to invest any more $$$ into cleaning and refurbishing. Well, that’s the first thing that we do here…spend more money on each unit that we buy. If the refrigerator doesn’t work, we fix it. If the roof a/c doesn’t blow cold, it’s repaired. If it’s dirty, we clean it. Would you believe most used RV’s have never been washed, waxed or detailed properly. You’d be surprised what 40 man hours (on the average) can do for a coach. And since we own what we sell, we’re as cautious as you would be when buying a pre owned vehicle. The last thing we want to do is spend good money on bad inventory with major problems and even worst pass them on to a customer. As I stated above....can you as a buyer, have a qualified third party inspect any of our coaches?….you bet! In over 8 years of selling used RV’s I’ve never lost a sale due to a pre purchase inspection….I welcome them. Please remember, no one can make a used motor home 100% perfect, if that is your desire, brand new is the only way to go and sometimes they are not perfect. From our beginnings we have used the "Why Don't You Sleep On It" approach to sales. We feel a buyer with reliable information and no pressure is much more satisfied with their purchase. With this philosophy, attitude and answering all questions to the best of our ability, has kept this business growing and our customers happy.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE
As with most used vehicles this one is sold as is - where is, without warrantee either expressed or implied. If interested we have an after market warrantee available that can cover any motor home with less than 100,000 miles and 12 or less years old. A non refundable deposit to be paid within 5 business days of close of this auction equal to 10% of the selling price by Cash, Cashier’s Check or Direct Wire Transfer to our bank account. The balance to be paid by Cash or Direct Wire Transfer within 10 business days of close of auction (unless other arrangements are made). Pick up of the vehicle to be accomplished within 15 business days of close of auction or at a mutually agreed upon time between the seller and the winning bidder. If you don’t agree with these terms or are not serious about purchasing this vehicle then please don’t bid, as we wish to have a real sale at the end of this auction. Bidders with negative feedback may have their bids canceled at seller’s discretion. Bidder with little or no feedback and that have reached our reserve price may be contacted for confirmation of bid. Buyer to pay all shipping and transport cost if any are incurred
